Hello All, The TP propagation doldrums continued for a second day here, and it was a scramble to find decent Asiatic audio. An indication of the poor conditions was the failure of 1566-HLAZ to produce audio here, for the first time in all of September. The morning wasn't a total waste, though-- there were a couple of bizarre TP fade-ins that were completely out of character with the poor propagation, providing a reminder once again that strange things can happen at any time in this hobby. 594-JOAK was the first to produce audio at 1325, but it was poor at best. 828-JOBB was the same way at 1327, refusing to stick around. Then suddenly 648-VOR (of all stations) faded in at a fair level with Russian music at 1329 during the Chinese program, stuck around for a minute, then dropped out completely. Shortly after that the 1053-Korean Jammer did the same thing at 1335, producing a fairly strong buzzing signal, as if to make a point. Various other TP's on 657, 738, 747, 972 and 1134 produced threshold audio, but nothing like these two overachievers. All things considered, despite the lackluster propagation, it was a strangely interesting morning. The following were heard on a C.Crane SWP Slider model (7.5" loopstick) inductively coupled to a 9' sided PVC tuned passive loop (in the rainy back yard): 594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan Poor audio at 1325, but practically ghostlike 648 VOR Razdolnoye, Russia Very strange fade-in with music during Chinese external program at 1329; unusual strength for the poor propagation _http://www.mediafire.com/?4qrf4egkqx61qaw_ (http://www.mediafire.com/?4qrf4egkqx61qaw) 738 BEL2 Penghu, Taiwan Threshold audio in and out throughout morning 747 JOIB Sapporo, Japan Another NHK "big gun" reduced to weak audio 828 JOBB Osaka, Japan Threshold audio around 1338 972 HLCA Dangjin, S. Korea Very weak Korean speech at 1341 1053 Korean Jammer Once again producing fair buzzing during fairly poor propagation _http://www.mediafire.com/?45scruhjsms73h0_ (http://www.mediafire.com/?45scruhjsms73h0) 1134 TP-Mix Very weak mix above the noise level at 1343, apparently JOQR-KBS 73 and Good DX, Gary DeBock 657 Pyongyang, N. Korea Threshold audio from rough carrier at 1338 _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca
