Hello All, Against better judgement two TP-chasing sessions were conducted here this morning, with the first from 0930-1015 during the Asian sunset, and then from 1300-1510 during the West Coast sunrise. Both sessions had excellent Asian propagation, even though only the "barefoot" SWP 7.5" Slider model was used indoors during the earlier period. Signals were not enhanced by any external loops until the second session at 1300. Around 0945 the Japanese "big guns" were already producing good audio on the stand-alone SWP Slider, along with 657-Pyongyang, 972-HLCA and 1566-HLAZ . The big surprise was tuning in to 558 and finding JOCR with its best-ever audio here around 0957, even on the "barefoot" Slider model. The Asian sunset propagation seemed unusually good, and I'm happy that J.D. Stephens, Jim Pogue and Brandon Jordan were able to enjoy an additional sunrise enhancement boost for these vibrant Japanese signals, during their perfectly-timed Alabama DXpedition. Around 1300 the 6' sided PVC loop (used for bad weather) was set up in the rainy back yard, and another great period of Asian propagation was enjoyed. Whereas Nick had JOCR on 558 around 1403 with good signals, here it was all HLQH on that frequency during the second session, with a strong Korean disco music program from 1300-1400. Other Asian signals were also unusually strong after 1300, including all the NHK "big guns," 603, 648, 657, 738, 936, 972, 1134, 1377, 1566 and 1575. Second-tier stations like 567, 576, 585, 675, 729, 756, 891 and others were knocking on the door. It was like a two-hour sunrise enhancement, with a few stations like 639-CNR1 joining in after 1430 with strong signals. Most of the NHK "big guns" were still strong at 1500, although a pesky Chinese station was at equal strength with 828-JOBB after the TOH. Like Nick mentioned, the vibrant Asian signals continued well after 1500, making this session one of the best of the entire season. The following were heard on a C.Crane SWP Slider model (7.5" loopstick) "barefoot" (0945-1030), and inductively coupled to a 6' sided PVC tuned passive loop (1300-1515). A modified ICF-2010 (30" loopstick) was used as an SSB spotting receiver: 558 HLQH Daegu, S.
