Hi Colin, Indeed, the IC-703+ is very nice for MW in a compact package!
I owned the newer IC-7000 for a while and it is hot on MW. The IF-DSP filtering and PBT is great, and found the noise reduction feature very effective. Have you seen Bjarne Mjelde's review of the IC-703 from a MW DXing perspective? Here's a shortened URL to the PDF: *http://tinyurl.com/3ryusc* He has also reviewed the IC-7000, which you can find here: * http://tinyurl.com/3lepwmd* 73, Guy Atkins Puyallup, WA -------------------------------------------------------- > Date: Sat, 02 Apr 2011 22:07:24 -0700 > From: Colin Newell <c...@islandnet.com> > To: Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America > <irca@hard-core-dx.com> > Subject: [IRCA] Breaking in a new MW Receiver... > Message-ID: <9262Y2FmZQ==.1301807...@helpdesk.islandnet.com> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" > > > ICOM 703+ > As it turns out, with a Wellbrook ALA100M, it rocks on medium > wave - two bandwidths, band pass tuning, DSP noise reduction > Auto-Het elimination... > > Bought it as a 10W All-band all-mode transceiver but the > MW end is turning out to be pretty tasty! > > Listening tonight -- conditions slightly auroral. > > > _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
