I recall talking to their morning man when they first moved to 1210 (from 1490, as I recall) I lived in Lead, SD, and Afton was already on w/5 kw. He told me they were originally licensed for 25K daytime, but decided to reduce it to 10K because nobody made 25K transmitters and they didn't want to buy a 50K and probably never need that much power. I never quite knew whether to believe that, though I suppose there really isn't much demand for 25K transmitters, even now.

WHAT has a FM translator, K222BL, in Laramie, on 92.3. It was the first time I've heard WHAT. ULR station #966 on a barefoot Sony SRF-T615.
