Dennis, It reminds me of when Bob and I were on our way back from LA and listening to KMPC 710 in the 80s, and it was blasting in all the way North on I-5, until around LSS when we were somewhere North of Fresno and suddenly, it dropped off the dial. Totally gone. From probably an S9+ 10 DB to nothing. I could only hear bits on KFIA and KIRO in there and they were weak, but no sign of KMPC. They're really tight to the North at night.
