Had a brilliant signal on 529 last night on the balcony mounted ALA100 to the Drake R8. 530 khz usually has Cuba parked on it with good audio or a distant TIS station... last night was no exception.
Noticed to my delight that my normally s7 digital hash has dropped down to around S1 -- and my AC/Plasma hash noise has dropped over 20db in the last month or so. So, to quote Nick Hall-Patch: "If you don't like your radio interference, don't move, wait 6 months... noise generators come and go, radio listeners are here til the bitter end..." OK, so that was more of me quoting me, but the sentiment is there. 6 months ago I could not check into our regional civil service amateur net on 80 meters - Now it is routine night after night - propagation permitting -- and I can always get through on CW (limited to 10W by my ICOM 703+) Best wishes On Tue, Nov 5, 2013 at 7:22 PM, Nick Hall-Patch <n...@telus.net> wrote: > The answer is to be found on > http://www.lwca.org/members/docs/201311/kr6iss/index.htm > > Mostly photos of longwave beacon sites, but Level Island is there also. > There`s a map of all the Alaskan beacons also. > > best wishes, > > Nick > > > -- > Nick Hall-Patch > Victoria, BC > Canada > > n...@ieee.org > _______________________________________________ > IRCA mailing list > IRCA@hard-core-dx.com > http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca > > Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the > original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the > IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers > > For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org > > To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com > > -- Colin Newell is the Editor and creator of Coffeecrew.com - DXer.ca - BobHarris.com | Amateur Radio VA7WWV | Twitter.Com/CoffeeCrew | Victoria B.C.
