Many of you may remember my post a few weeks back concerning an unid Hispanic station heard almost every night at my QTH under WCCO 830. If you replied to my post, thanks! I have your responses written down on my log page.
Tonight (Wednesday, 12 Feb 2014, at 0003 UTC), I solved the mystery! Nulling out WCCO as best as I could, the resultant broadside direction was not the "usual" direction for México. According to Cantú, the station slogan - "La Kaliente" - is used by only one XE station on 830 ... XELN in Linares, Nuevo León (Sorry, Phil, my much-preferred IRCA Mexican Log is in a storage tub in our garage awaiting the completion of minor home renovations). Anyway, the broadside direction of my radio did not favor Linares. I don't know why I didn't do this earlier, but I Googled "830 AM Hispanic" and saw WFNO in Norco, Lousiana. Further investigation revealed a live stream on TuneIn Radio. A quick comparison between off-the-air and streaming sealed the deal! So, that unid Hispanic on 830 under WCCO that I'm hearing is WFNO, Norco, LA. A quick check of both the Radio-Locator and FCC pattern plots tend to confirm my conclusion.
