Hello All,

Well, propagation giveth and then propagation taketh away. What started off as
an excellent-sounding band at 1310 took a general swoon around 1340, leaving
only a few Japanese big guns and 1566-HLAZ to finish up a disappointing
session.

After yesterday's Asian propagation fireworks I'm sure that everyone was
looking for a repeat, and at my 1310 start time it certainly looked like the
band would deliver. There were potent signals once again from the big guns on
594, 693, 747, 828 and 972, as well as a good signal in and out from 1566.
Second-tier Asians were managing weak audio as well on 558, 603, 657, 738,
1044, 1323, 1503 and 1593, and the overall situation seemed exactly like
yesterday's around 1315. Unfortunately that was the high point, though, and the
Asians started a downhill slide from there. Both 603-HLSA and 738-BEL2 had been
managing some weak audio around 1315 but were long gone by 1340, as well as
657-Pyongyang and 1044-CRI. Almost everything except the low band NHK big guns
had packed it in by 1400, leaving only 594-JOAK, 693-JOAB, 747-JOIB and
828-JOBB to sink into anemia without a trace of sunrise enhancement. 1566-HLAZ
was also one of the last diehards to survive the 1340 UTC swoon, but hardly at
a vibrant level. The sorry collection of survivors sunk into the noise around
1415, finishing up one of the most dramatic propagation swoons in recent
memory.
