Guy,

Thanks for the links to the articles. I remember seeing John's article a
while back before I tried any "advanced" antennas, and I was glad to be
reminded of it. Mark's article has a lot to digest! I've been trying to
do some testing of my small Superloop, but it's a lot more challenging than
I had realized. In some preliminary daytime testing at home where my
angles are limited, I couldn't get a front-to-back ratio better than about
15 dB, although the 10 dB range seemed to be pretty broad on the
termination side. I suspect this has been working well at night for me due
to a more optimal reception angle, and especially because I can work so
many frequencies at once as compared to my tuned antennas. Sometime in the
next few weeks I'm planning on setting up in an open field and doing a full
360 degree set of measurements to test out the pattern and resistor
settings.

(BTW, you and Gary and others may be interested to hear that I made an
impulse buy of a Tecsun PL-380, which should arrive tomorrow. I don't know
whether I'll do any antenna hot-rodding on it, but it should be a fun
receiver to play with.)
