Normally Vancouver area stations are rock solid into Victoria -- some
35 to 45 miles away -
Tonight even the blowtorches like CBC 690 are getting the stuffing kicked
out of them by phase distortion and multi-path signal cancellation.

730khz out of Vancouver is a mess of signals much further away -
I was not under the impression that we were experiencing any auroral
conditions...
maybe it is something else.
