Thanks to Colin for his initial report, and I certainly can agree with him that Asian signals improved quite dramatically this morning. Both the Japanese and Korean big guns reached good levels across the band, and there were a few unusual stations that showed up. For the first time this season the 1053-Jammer had an actual Asian signal to jam, and 1134-JOQR made a rare appearance. First check at 1250 revealed a group of Asians already sounding vibrant, including good signals in and out from 828-JOBB and 972-HLCA and very good signals from the 1053-Jammer and 1566-HLAZ. Sunrise enhancement brought the NHK big guns on 594, 693 and 747 up to good levels, while the 1053-Jammer reached a potent level indeed. Weaker signals on 603 (HLSA), 657, 738, 1044 and 1503 started coming out of the noise, while the Japanese stations hit their peak stride around 1330. About this time an Asian co-channel started fading in under the 1053-Jammer (apparently JOAR, judging by the speech and inflection), and a definite 1134-JOQR started rising above the Vancouver splatter (rare here, since KBS usually dominates). 1287-JOHR also had some brief moments of good signals, although the frequency is a very bad one here with multiple station splatter. The high band didn't seem to share much in the Japanese bonanza, though, with only a weak 1503-JOUK and a good-level 1566-HLAZ during the daylight period. Overall it was a pretty interesting session for this point in the season, and I'll be eager to read Colin's delayed report. 1053 Korean Jammer Potent jam session at 1331; best Asian signal of the morning https://app.box.com/s/57kfmvwp2z2tqkf3175cbl6q9ayqo6oe 1053 UnID-TP Mystery Asian station (JOAR?) attempting to challenge the Jammer at 1330-- and eventually losing its shirt https://app.box.com/s/66z3d0ahbezomnx1xewotrt1mlegrbwk 1134 JOQR Tokyo, Japan Fair-level Japanese male speech at 1333 during Japanese propagation bonanza-- first appearance here for several years https://app.box.com/s/xlreau8cdqwxnoh164o70mrk04cwmfd8 73 and Good DX, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA) 7.5" loopstick C.Crane Skywave Ultralight + 15" FSL antenna _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca
