Hi all - conditions seemed somewhat better last night. I'm hoping someone with better knowledge of ME languages than I can help me ID the following log - I believe it's probably IRIB, but I'm not sure as I couldn't find anything on YouTube that matched and there are no // frequencies. The other alternative is Algeria but the programming doesn't seem to match what I would expect from Chaine 2. OTOH there are time pips and I can't find anything that indicates IRIB uses them, and I can't ID the word "Iran" or "Tehran", which I would expect to be able to. Chaine 2 uses I believe 5+1 time pips, and this is 4.
Any help would be most appreciated! 1. IRAN (tent.) <http://khalijefars.irib.ir/> IRIB Radio Khalij-e Fars 693 kHz 0258-0303 UTC (recording starts at 0259). ME mx, time pips and announcements by woman starting at 0259:45. Brief program intro mx @TOH. https://www.dropbox.com/s/19xxkdqhvqel92e/Radio%20-%20IRIB%20Radio%20Khalij- e%20Fars%20693%20kHz%2006%20Sep%202016%200259%20UTC.mp3?dl=0 2. ALGERIA R Adrar 1089 kHz 2358-0003 UTC: mostly AA program before TOH with some FF, FF after. Brief mx selections, commentary by man before, woman after. Even though I heard no indisputable ID I think that this is the only station on the frequency that would have this programming. I should also note that the UK started fading in around 0058 UTC and was dominant by 0258. That is the station I am used to hearing on thi sfrequency. 3. CANARY ISLANDS esRadio (Radio Las Palmas) 1008 kHz 0458-0503 UTC. SS language mx and announcements. 'esRadio and Radio Las Palmas' ID's at TOH, the latter sung. Thanks very much again for anyone's help on the recording!
