Something I forgot to mention previously. I'm experimenting with running my drake r8a and wellbrook 1530 loop on a 12v 7ah battery. while it is a bit quieter, I cant'say conclusively.
Reason being, I still have my trusty acer desktop at hand. But I've switched it off, and not noticed any real changes. So, the verdict is still out. If I pack everything into the truck and visit the country hilltops, I am sure things will improve. What I'd like is to create a quiet qth where the dx just "rolls in" with no espn and similar station id violators!
