For those who have interest in exotic DU signals or who simply enjoy Polynesian music, here are several of the most memorable recordings made during the Kona DXpedition. Because these stations are all on or close to domestic frequencies they are pretty tough to receive, even on the west coast. The experience of receiving blowtorch signals from them was unforgettable.
540 2AP Apia, Samoa Over five minutes of Samoan worship music at overwhelming strength, completely free of any Mainland QRM at 0931 UTC on April 9th. This was the strongest performance of 2AP during the four day DXpedition, and except for similar signals from 621-Tuvalu and 1440-Kiribati, would have been the strongest DU recording made during the trip https://app.box.com/s/8ejvx8s7udh5ibtqymtxs5ew65mquqcl 621 Radio Tuvalu Funafuti, Tuvalu Potent level island music followed by the standard sign off routine at 0953 on April 10th. Overall this was its best performance during the trip, although it typically matched this level for a few minutes each evening around 0900.
