Yeh i suppose i would agree with both of you. I concentrate on epee mostly but
still fence foil whenever I get a chance. Had more fun fencing foil in the past
year even though I have had more success fencing epee - maybe its because you
don't put pressure on yourself for your second weapon? Anyway when I get back
to training I intend to take up Sabre for the laugh. I can currently only enter
foil for the Junior Nationals so I want to have a second weapon for that.
But I would encourage people to take up a second weapon even if you don't take
it seriously. Its makes a tournament more enjoyable if you can fence for fun
(as i do with foil) But then this is just my thought. And I agree with Paul
that its difficult to change between weapons. I get alot of off targets on the
arm and alot of double hits in foil. Find it difficult to remember that there
is a right of way in foil.
