A desktop GIS/cartography software written in C#, running on Win, Linux and Mac (using Mono). Primarily oriented towards use of free geography sources like OpenStreetMap. IronPython is currently used experimentally to extend the cartography capabilities ( http://braincrunch.tumblr.com/post/4286086882/maperitive-python-scripting-introduction). In future IronPython will be used as a toolkit for application automation, GIS processing and mapmaking.
