If there's something in particular that annoys you or that you would like to see, try to do that, or if you don't know what to do, look around on http://bugs.irssi.org and try to find a bug to fix or feature to implement. Browse around the source, start by changing something simple to get familiar with it, and well, just dive in :). And don't hesitate to ask questions, or add comments to tickets if a have a particular problem... Writing (and reading) scripts can also help a lot, because the interface scripts use isn't really much different from how irssi works internally. Wouter.
