To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello All, Does anybody know about this? UNSW student mail, i.e. via [EMAIL PROTECTED], has been saying "You have no mail" now for about a day or so. Only two items have come through in that time (the below is one) and the rest of mail is being lost, or what? I tried to check the UNSW email statistics web page (to see if that would show what was going on): University Student Email Service (UNIMAIL) - http://rufus.comms.unsw.edu.au/stats/unimail/ ,,, but this would not connect. Still was not connecting on 5 August, when tried at 13:45 p.m. Of course there is also the University Dial-Up Service (UDUS) stats to look at - http://death.comms.unsw.edu.au/stats/udus/ ,,, but this doesn't have daily [today's] graph and record ends at yesterday always. Nonetheless, this does show "maximum simultaneous connections/hour" to be below weekly norm since 19:00 hours on Fri Aug 3rd, and even more so (situation worsening) on Sat Aug 4th. DNS LOOKUP on rufus.comms.unsw.edu.au, Sun Aug 05 14:00:02 2001 : Host rufus.comms.unsw.edu.au has IP address 149.171.96.100 PING --> <*> Attempting ICMP PING to rufus.comms.unsw.edu.au, Sun Aug 05 14:01:02 2001 rufus.comms.unsw.edu.au is not responding to ICMP ping. Yeah "RUFUS" too is down for sure. So what is it at UNSW? The don't look at their faults? They don't put any advice about things where users can find out the situation? They don't fix anything until the weekend is over? Or what ??? Does anybody know about these things, and about service from UNSW? The UNSW services seem so bad over so many areas, ,,, yet "COMMUNICATIONS" is one of the most vital areas they should attend to more! Even just keeping a "simple LOG" page of errors on some *INDEPENDENT* web server (not one that will disappear from access when the very problem happens) would seem merely COMMON SENSE and DEAD EASY to do - so they should surely do the "dead easy" stuff for the convenience and peace of mind of their users. Grrrrr, I do get frustrated at times, very frustrated.
