FOR SALE - PICK UP FROM STRATHFIELD AT NIGHTS OR ON WEEKENDS: ============================================================ Various old (to VERY OLD!!!!) computers or monitors: $5-10 each Some are CP/M, most would understand DOS, some might even speak Window. Some monitors are Monchrome/b&w ones, most are VGA. This might suit some tinkerers who need bits and pieces, especially if you needed to communicate back with the historic past by fitting a 5.25 floppy drive to read old disks, or something like that. Thus the floppy disks might have some ongoing use? The hard disks in these machines are nothing to write home about, most are 40 Mb, some even 10 Mb only and one is a miserable 5 Mb. Also have some old MFM hard disks that I suspect might well have my own stuff on them which I would like to recover but I cannot access them. Is there anybody skillful in that who I can contact? Please let me know. The old machines mostly do not work off their hard disks because their batteries if of 80s vintage have run out and they have lost CMOS configuration and some hard disks don't have characteristics written on the outside to reset them even if setup software were at hand (which it mostly isn't), yet they will usually boot from a floppy with sys transfer. Also some spares, like 5.25 floppy drives are "brand new" in that they had never ever been fitted to any machine, they are just old unused 80s-90s stock. Please contact me for fuller details if there is anything you are after, or maybe arrange to come take a look. Would like to hear from anybody even potentially interested as I wish to cull the stuff. Also like to hear any ideas in reference to the task of seeing what is on some of the old MFM hard disks that might need to be recovered.
