Wa Alaikum As Salam, Jazak Allah Khair, for your attention in this matter. I had heard that they were going to destroy the prophet pbuh's house, yet I thought it was only rumor. Many historical sites like this one has been demolished by the Sauid Government, which they say is to keep people from committing "bidah" by seeking blessings in these places. May Allah save us! They were one of the first countries to cry out at the destruction of the idols in Afghanistan. Here is a list also fyi of the historical sites which have been demolished in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I urge everyone to forward this and sign the petition, although I doubt it will stop them.
