Brothers and sisters Gulf Medical Relief Fund and the Islamic Center of the Triad are calling for the establishment of relief centers for those affected by Hurricane Katrina. This can be accomplished by developing a task force in your area consisting of the following committees and an overall supervisor:
1. Volunteer Committee: to coordinate their transportation to and from appointment.
2. Non-Food Committee: to collect items such as sleeping bags, pillows, mattresses, and diapers .
3. Food Committee: to collect food for adults and babies.
4. Employment Committee: to assist in finding jobs.
5. Relationship Committee: to be a liaison between the refugees and agencies such as the Red Cross, hospitals and FEMA.
6. Information Committee: to maintain a folder of information for each person.
We ask all of you to be effective and to be productive in assisting our brothers and sisters. You can contact Islamic Centers in New Orleans for information on refugees.
