Walaikum salam, Where have they come from? The article includes the source of the information as well as who originally made the advert - I suggest you re-read it.
Neither the article nor the opinion state that these are the things which are required for an imam to be called an imam. Rather its purpose is to show how standards have slipped from what was once a requirement for an imam to today where for example my local Imam barely speaks English, has probably never read any other religious text, has memorised the Quran but is not a native speaer of the Arabic language, and has about as much style and appeal as a pair of hot pants. And may Allah have mercy on us all, and help us improve ourselves, ameen. fi amanillah, wa salam, f --- In islamcity@yahoogroups.com, faiz malik wrote: > > salaam alaikum > Those points which you have mentioned for an IMAM, where have they come from and who says that those are the main points an IMAM has to fulfill to be called an imam?? > > faiz. > > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:Assalam alaikum, > > In an age when many of us are faced with the oddest of imams in our > mosques, the following advert for the Imam of the Grand Mosque of > Istanbul by Sultan Suleman who ruled the Ottoman Empire between 1520 > and 1566, should show us how standards have slipped in recent generations. > > 1.
