Assalam alaikum,

Christian brothers say that Bible is "Word of God", inspired by Jesus, written by Mark, Matthew, Luke and John. If we review the history of the gospels, not one of the manuscripts of the NT carries the author's signature. There is a dubious "according to" added in the introduction to the text. The earliest gospel is that of Mark which was written after Jesus' death (about 60-75 AD). Mark was the son of Barnabas’s sister and was never an eye witness to Jesus's ministry. Mark was probably ten years old when Jesus upbraided his people and was not born when Jesus was a child. Matthew was a tax collector who did not always travel with Jesus. Luke was Paul’s physician, and had never met Jesus. Gospel of John (not John, the disciple, who was killed by king Agrippa I in 44 AC) is from a different source and was written in about 100 AD.

Further, the Bible conveys that Matthew, Luke and John were not the authors of the gospels that bear their names. Let us analyze,

Matthew 9: 9 And as Jesus passed forth thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, 'Follow me' And he arose, and followed him.

If Matthew was indeed the author and an eyewitness, the verse should read, "he saw me, Matthew" and "he saith unto me" and "I arose and followed him".

Luke 1: 1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, 2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word

Two things are clear from this verse. One, many people were writing the story of Jesus. Second, these things were delivered to Luke by those who were eyewitnesses.

John 19: 35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.

John 21: 24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.

If John was the author and an eyewitness, the verse should have "I" instead of "he" and "my" instead of "his". In John 21: 24, who are the "we" who are testifying to John's record?

Anybody with basic understanding can clearly exclude Jesus, Matthew, Luke or John as the author of the above. They are second or a third person's account of what they saw and heard. When one can not even attribute the gospels to their authors, how does one say they were inspired by Jesus?

Allah (swt) knows best.

{Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'an) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.}
(Holy Quran-16:125)

{And who is better in speech than he who [says: "My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness)," and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allah's (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of the Muslims."} (Holy Quran-41:33)

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Allah, if Allah guides one person by you, it is better for you than the best types of camels." [al-Bukhaaree, Muslim]

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)  also said, "Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all."
[Muslim, Ahmad, Aboo Daawood, an-Nasaa'ee, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah]
