Salam,

The first day of the glorious month of Rajab was on THursday the 27th of July 2006.

There are various websites where you can go and look for teh corresponding dates between teh Gregorian and teh Islamic calendars.

By some reports, we know that it was the night of the 27th of Rajab when the Prophet's spirititual as well as physical (some scholars have questioned that  s econd part) experience of M'ERAAJ took place. So the night between the 26th and the 27th is called SHAB-E-MERAAJ or LAYLATUL-ISRA.(See Qur'an 17:1).

The second significance of teh date is that the Prophet of Islam announced his mission on this day. Therefore, the day of the 27th of Rajab is also known as YAWM-E-B'ETHAT.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Syed-Mohsin Naquvi
