Apropos of the news captioned "Pope benedict questions concept of jihad" .
Does the Pope need to be reminded that one of his predecessors had his finger in the pie of "crusades" against the Muslims and its consequences. Moreover in the words of a historian they were described as the "maddest episodes of history".
The need of the hour is not to add fuel to the fire of "clash of civilizations" and evangelical so-called "war against terror" seen as dominance of the Mulim world and its resources but instead rally the forces of the Crescent, Cross and Star of David all together for a "jehad" in order to promote virtue and prevent vice, against all forms of disease,exploitation,hunger, injustice, cruelty, deprivation, greed, oppression, poverty, suffering, tyranny, illegal
occupation of land, etc to make the world better place to live in.

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said, "Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all." [Muslim, Ahmad, Aboo Daawood, an-Nasaa'ee, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah]
