 *5th Day of TARAVEEH *

This completes one and a quarter part of the Quraan, and a total of six and
quarter parts. Four sections from the sixth part and the whole surah
al-Maidah. This section begins with the advice not to make known the defects
in any person except the one who was wronged. It is insisted upon that one
should develop the quality of forget and forgive and that those who
differentiate between the prophets, accepting some of them and rejecting
some others were declared as disbelievers, and those who do not
differentiate between them are the true believers and for them is a great
reward.

The second section mentions the demands of the Jews from the Prophet to get
the Divine Book down from the heaven duly written and that they have
demanded even a greater thing from Moosa (AS). There is mention of the mean
misbehaviour, breach of trust and breaking of promises by the Jews. It is
categorically told that they are telling lies when they claim they had
killed Eesa (AS), nor have they crucified him, but in fact ALLAH had raised
him up to the heavens and that he will come back again before the end of the
world and that all the people of the book will believe in him. It is because
of this arrogance of the Jews that ALLAH had enjoined for them stringent and
harsh rules to follow.

In the third section the Prophet is told that revelation wa s being sent to
him as it used to be sent to the prophets before him and that the mention of
many a prophets had been made and the stories of many prophets have not been
mentioned and narrated. The continuity of the prophets was maintained for
the reason that people should not come out with excuses in the Aakhirah. O
People! Believe in the last Prophet, do not create confusion in religion,
say the truth. Eesa (AS) ibn-e-Mariam (AS) is a Messenger of ALLAH. ALLAH is
one and HE is alone and none associated with HIM in HIS being the GOD. HE is
free from all defects

In the fourth section it is mentioned that Eesa (AS) ibn-e-Mariam (AS) and
the Angels are all slaves of ALLAH. To obey ALLAH's commands and to serve
HIM is the highest honour and a great respect and whoever turns away from
HIS servitude he will be punished. Whoever holds fast the Quraan, has
succeeded and the last verse explains the laws of inheritance of a person
who has no father or children, known as Kalala.
Surah al-Maidah begins.

In the first section it is enjoined that one should fulfill the the promise
and a covenant and that the promise made to ALLAH Himself or any human
being, should fulfill it. Believers are asked to cooperate with one another
in good and righteous things only. Mention is made about the animals which
are halal and the details about the things which are haraam (forbidden) and
rules relating to hunting of animals. There is a declaration and good news
that the religion of Islam has been completed in every aspect and that ALLAH
has chosen Islam as the religion or the way of life for the whole mankind.
The rules relating to the Zabiha or the animals slaughtered by the people of
the book and the status of relationship with them is also explained.

In the second section the rules relating to wudhu, taharah (cleanliness and
purity) and the Tayammum were explained and it is enjoined to practice
justice. The believers are insisted upon to have faith an dependence only on
ALLAH.

In the third section it is said that "WE" (ALLAH) has taken a promise from
the Jews to perform the prayers, pay the zakaat and to do good deeds, but
they have not fulfilled it. Making distortions in the scriptures revealed by
ALLAH and breach of trust and promises and deceit have become their
attitudes and the nasara or the Christians have also followed their way.
Hence the Quraan shows the way of truth and it is a beacon of light in the
darkness. The claim of the people of the book that they are the sons of
ALLAH and HIS beloved is totally false.

In the fourth section the favours of ALLAH upon them and the arrogant
behaviour of the Jews, their misbehaviour with Moosa (AS) and the
consolation of ALLAH is mentioned.

In the fifth section the story of the two sons of Adam (AS), Habeel and
Qabeel is narrated and the mention of the first murder of a man committed on
earth and the lesson out of that and other rules are explained. The warning
of a severe punishment form ALLAH is given for those creating disorder on
earth and committing murder.

In the sixth section Muslims are impressed upon to seek nearness to ALLAH,
call for undertaking Jihad and its merit is explained. Itis made clear that
on the day of Judgment if the non-believers want to escape or get remedy
from the torment by offering all the treasures of the earth, they cannot
save themselves. Punishment for theft, mention about the mischief and
behaviour of the Jews, call for practicing justice and that ALLAH loves
those who are just.

In the seventh section it is explained that the responsibility of protecting
the Torah was on the Jewish scholars. Rules relating to retaliation (Qisas)
are explained and that the Torah and the Bible are books revealed by ALLAH ,
to follow them and not to follow your desires. Decide amongst yourself
according to the laws revealed by ALLAH, those who do not practice this are
the Kafirs and unjust and are disobedient.

In the eighth section believers are called upon not to take the Jews and the
Christians for friends, as they are friends unto themselves, and those who
make friends with them will be considered belonging to them. Whoever turns
away from the true religion will not do any harm to ALLAH. ALLAH will bring
another community (which will be more obedient). Muslims should themselves
before ALLAH and HIS Messenger. Whoever comes closer to ALLAH , HIS
Messenger and the believers non can over power them.

In the ninth section the believers are advised not to take those who
ridicule the religion, the salaat as friends. The Jews were exposed of their
misbehaviour, abusive talks and ALLAH's punishment to them because of this.
They are called upon to follow the rules enshrined in the Torah and the
Bible.

In the tenth section the Prophet is called upon to convey the message
revealed by ALLAH to the people and to call other communities towards Iman.
Mention about the problems and the hardships faced by the prophets from
their people is made. It is categorically indicated that the Paradise is
forbidden to the idolaters. Eesa (AS) is the Messenger of ALLAH, he and his
mother Mariam (AS), truthful used to take normal food (hence not super
beings). Do not commit excesses in religion, refrain from hollow claims and
keep yourselves away from the deviated paths.

In the eleventh section it is mentioned that Dawood (AS) and Eesa ibn Mariam
have cursed the Bani Israel and those who transgressed the limits and that
the Jews and the idolaters were the worst enemies of Muslims, if at all
anyone is close to the Muslims are those who call themselves Nasara
(Christians). Some of their characteristics are mentioned here that when
they hear the Word of ALLAH tears roll down their eyes that they have found
the truth in it. For such people there is everything and for those who
disbelieve there is Hell fire.

In the twelfth section the believers are called upon to eat the pure and
halal things, the compensation and remedy for the sinful act of breaching a
promise of an oath is explained. Wine gambling, taking the arrows for omens
are all haraam, and the command prohibiting the wine is explained. It is
explained what the Shaitaan wants to do by wine and gambling, ponder over it
and undertake the path of truth.

In the thirteenth section there is mention about halal as well as forbidden
things. Then follows the rules relating to Ihram, the central position of
the Holy Kaaba. It is said that the responsibility of the Prophet is to
convey the message. Pure and impure things cannot be equal.

In the fourteenth section Muslims are advised not to put forth unnecessary
and irrelevant questions and refrain from frequenting with questions as it
was at the time of revelation of the Quraan (rules and guidelines are being
revealed) and bear in mind if the answer to such irrelevant question is
given then you will be in trouble. Muslims are advised to think about
themselves. Method of making a will is explained and concealing the witness
is condemned.

In the fifteenth section mention is made about the day on which ALLAH will
gather all the Prophets and Messengers and will ask them, tell ME what
response you had got from the people? On that day ALLAH will ask Eesa ibn
Mariam (AS) remind him of giving him HIS favour of the miracles and the HIS
blessings upon him. The people have not accepted his message, instead they
have demanded, Oh Eesa ibn Mariam pray to ALLAH whether HE can send down for
us a fully served dining sheet and we get sustenance without effort. In
response to this ALLAH had said, Listen with care, I will send down the
dining sheet fully served but if you still disobey, I will punish you in
such a way that none on earth have been punished like that so far.

In the sixteenth section it is explained that the unjust and wrong-doers
have associated him and his mother with ALLAH, but Eesa ibn Mariam (AS) will
submit before ALLAH saying; " I had only called them towards obeying your
commands, whatever I had said to them is known to YOU. YOU are the Knower of
the hidden secrets. It is up to YOU (Oh ALLAH) if YOU wish, YOU may punish
them or if YOU wish YOU may forgive them, they are YOUR slaves and YOU have
every right over them. That would be the day on which the truth will
compliment those who are truthful and those will be the successful. Kingdom
of ALLAH prevails in the heavens and the earth, every atom in the whole
creation functions according to HIS commands and HE is the Absolute and the
Powerful and the Sovereign.
