Kate Allen, director of Amnesty International UK, has nominated Anas El-Banna, Jamil El-Banna's eldest son, as New Stateman's Person of the Year 2007. In spite of his young age (almost 11) and not having seen his father in over five years, Anas has worked hard for the release and return of his father, having written to Prince Charles and Tony Blair shortly after his father was kidnapped and rendered when he was six, followed by other letters to the Prime Minister, speaking on international TV and to press media, speaking at demonstrations around London and in parliament.
