Dear All,
Just a little while ago at 3:45 PM SMW3 to
EMIX went down and possible restoration time of 36 to 48 hours was quoted, the
time was later changed to July 30th. Luckily STM1 was available and ISP's
etc. were shifted on this circuit to avoid the extended downtime.
This type of situation is very serious and we
should persuade MOST and PTCL to provide a Satellite backup to STM1
together with a fully restorable guarantee STM1 circuit. This should be done
right away to avoid loss of business to Internet users and to avoid Pakistan
being a news item worldwide in case of extended downtime.
