RECORDER REPORT
.......ISLAMABAD : The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has installed three Internet exchanges at Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad to promote information technology, said a press release.
.......These exchanges are fully equipped with modern facilities and have the potential to retain the local traffic within the country. Furthermore, the exchanges have also the capability of providing Web hosting and DNS services facilities, which can be availed of by the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for hosting their websites in the country.
.......This initiative on the part of PTCL will also help save foreign exchange. ISPs, which are utilising bandwidth other than Internet exchange, can also be provided with local peering facilities.
.......PTCL has built international connectivity through multiple backbones to link the outside world, which will make the network less dependent in case of failure and reliable communication to users.
