PRI MAINTENANCE

Maintenance of PRI has been handed over to usual Network maintenance staff under various exchanges/ divisions. The PTCL thinks that like all others components of Network the PRIs should also be maintained at local level. However, we have noticed that the field staff is as yet not very confident. Recently, one of our member, Cubexs had very serious Multi-PRI breakdown and the staff could not handle the fault properly. ISPAK contacted  the DG (Operations) South, Mr. Irfan Ali Khan on the morning of 28th December 2001, who feels that while the maintenance will have to be with normal maintenance crew, the staff will be adequately trained. He assigned the DE Value added staff to work along the field staff in this case.  While we are not in a position to suggest the organizational changes but we demand quick and prompt remedy. We are offering the DG that if he could detail his trainers to train a set of PRI Maintenance crew at every exchange on which one of our member depends, we will provide a congenial and conducive venue for training. If there are SOPs developed, we will be able to put them on line for all to be benefited.

Members are requested to keep the ISPAK updated about their difficulties with the maintenance of PRIs so that PTCL could be perused to achieve a better result.
