What is the exact http error you are receiving? Can you capy&paste the whole error text please?
Whe you said you are usin xpress updates what do you mean? you are installing xpus manually? or using the "Apply > XPU " menu? Are your agents showing an "Out of date" message or are they showing any error refering to the XPU catalog? Select your XPU Server > Manage Policy Select Server Settings > Server Tabs, if you have direct conection to the Internet you must use xpu.iss.net and port 443 with no proxy configuration. Just check this tab and tell us how is your XPU Server downloadinf the XPUs.
