Hello,
There are two different trojans that go under this name:
1. Troj_DTV2 (stands for trojan deep throat virus)
2. W32.DEEPTROAT
First one is a client-server hacking tool similar to Back Orifice. Size is 414
657 bytes. If your system is infected with the client the following file will be
in your WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory: systemio.exe. You can disinfect your system by
simply deleting the file.
The second is a trojan which comes with a mail seemingly from Microsoft and has
an attachment called ie0199.exe. It tries to disguise itself as an Internet
Explorer update. To disinfect - simply delete from system.
If you want to be able to detect these viruses before they are executed and
infected your system (especially if you are trying to protect a network) Trend
Micro is the only vendor I know of that has the virus signatures included in
their products. I was not able to find any record on Deep Throat in the Network
Associates virus database. One of your best solutions then will be to use a
firewall with a virus checker on it (Trend Micro offer just the thing - their
virus wall is pretty good!) and filter all traffic on the entry point to your
network.
