OK, shoot!

Absolutely I do. In general I use it to determine if a scan has "hung",
as still happens sometimes with our setup. I'll also use it to see how
long various machines of various configurations take to scan, and where
some of the hangups seem to be. Honestly - many of the checks marked as
"May take significant time" don't take any longer at all than the normal
ones. Other normal ones seem to take longer at times. Mostly - it
seems a little random ... :)

That, and we provide machine scans to our users on a request basis for
free. If people call in, and want to check out their machine I can tell
them what's going on on their machine AS it happens - and they can watch
on their end. It seems to interest a number of our users to see how
their machine responds when our scanner hits "whatever" on their
machine.

Ermmmm, I sort of answered this above - but in general I use it to
ascertain exactly WHAT is going on. Sometimes it's to see what's taking
so long, sometimes it's user education, sometimes I just watch the
little checks roll by to assure myself that the network gnomes are still
clicking away. I've also scanned my own desktop in the past and watched
my message hits at the same time as the Scanner Status. It just helps
me make sure I am in shape to answer questions when people decide to pop
up and shoot away.
