I would like someone to confirm the following scenario will work before
we purchase the network taps.
We have an Extreme Alpine switch is communicating to our firewall
(Checkpoint on a Nokia 440) via a cat5e cable at 100Mb Full Duplex. A
10/100 TX Tap is inserted inline. The tap has two monitoring ports,
which each monitor the traffic in one direction. Each of these
monitoring ports will be connected to a network adaptor on the Win2k
server running ISS Network Sensor. The two adapters are teamed for
load balancing. The virtual adapter created by the team would have an
effective rate of 200Mb. The Network Sensor would be bound to this
virtual adaptor
I am look for confirmation that this scenario has been actually done in
a production environment and what problems if any were found. What
network cards and teaming software were used?
