Csaba Ringhofer commented on IMPALA-5051:
-----------------------------------------

I plan to add this as an experimental feature first - a new development query
option would set the type used for timestamps in Parquet globally. Its value
would be int96_nano by default, and setting it to int64_micro, int64_milli, and
int64_nano would switch to the given physical + logical type.

> Add support to write INT64 timestamps to the parquet writer
