Silka Simmen commented on IMPALA-10756: --------------------------------------- I built Impala 4.2.0 and tried to use it with Apache Hive 3.1.3. But it still runs into {{org.apache.thrift.TApplicationException}} exception. OS: Centos 7 Build commands: {code:java} export USE_APACHE_HIVE=true; ./buildall.sh -notests -release{code} Then it first ran into this exception during startup: IMPALA-11801. By applying the patch manually to 4.2.0, the daemons are up and running. But when I try to add a table, it runs into the exception mentioned in this issue: {code:java} org.apache.thrift.TApplicationException: Invalid method name: 'get_database_req'{code} > Catalog failed to load metadata. > -------------------------------- > > Key: IMPALA-10756 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-10756 > Project: IMPALA > Issue Type: Bug > Components: Frontend > Affects Versions: Impala 4.0.0 > Environment: System: CentOS Linux release 7.9.2009 (Core) > impala version: 4.0 > hive version: hive 3.1.2 > Reporter: Zhi Tang > Priority: Major > Fix For: Impala 4.1.0 > > > The Catalog throws a "Invalid method name: 'get_database_req'" exception when > it loads the metadata.
