Vivek Sharma commented on AMBARI-26048:
---------------------------------------
+1 to add JDK17 support, inline with other Apache projects and their (upcoming)
support for Java 17 - HADOOP-17177, SPARK-33772, HIVE-26473
> Build and Run Ambari on Java 17

> Key: AMBARI-26048

> Project: Ambari
> Issue Type: Bug
> Reporter: Brahma Reddy Battula
> Priority: Major
>
> Currently ambari supports jdk8 , now we need to revisit as JDK8 LTS support
> is over (looks there is extended) and spring boot application mandate jdk17.
>
> we know that jdk11 is a LTS version, but the technical support will be ended
> in September 2023. JDK17 is the next generation LTS version, and will support
> a least to 2026.
> for G1GC, Java17 will get 8.66% faster than Java11, for ParallelGC, the
> percent will be 6.54%. If we upgrade to java17, we will get more performance
> improvement than Java11.
>
> I suggest, we upgrade ambari version to support java17.
> As mentioned in
> [https://lists.apache.org/thread/o1szrto9l1tldxbc7zm4n7582p2vm500] all the
> projects are started supporting the jdk17
>
> This Umbrella JIRA to support Java 17 LTS.
