Note that you don't need gcc 4.9. It is the one that works best with the whole 
conda stack but you're also able to build with newer gcc version. You might run 
into problems with the CXX11 ABI but for that you need to set an environment 
variable to switch to the correct ABI. 

@Gerlando mh, that looks ok for me. What is the problem with it?
