As discussed with @pabloem in JIRA - this is alsio a good approach (maybe
even better for "self-containing" solution. I am rather cautious about reusing
the clones across projects in Apache as this might lead to relying on reviews
done by the other project (but we only review that one paritcular commit we are
using) - see my comment in the [email protected] discussion:

. So I am starting to think that the way @pabloem did is a better one and
should be the recommended way (though I'd use subrepo for it).
