We're currently investigating if pushing down the subquery onto the "most 
appropriate" side as a projection and then referencing that column in the join 
condition.
That assumes that correlated accesses reference fields from exactly one side 
(which for our use-cases is fine).

I'm still trying to think through if that is valid for different join types 
depending on the side.
