Julian Hyde commented on CALCITE-7428:
--------------------------------------
To summarize the conversation to this point: adding a new function to an
operator table is EASY; adding a new infix operator is HARD.
Can we change the goal of this case to just support
{code:java}select brand_name from product where REGEXP(brand_name,'[a-zA-Z]')
{code}
in the Hive operator table. Log another case for infix REGEXP; the work is
going to be similar to the case that added RLIKE to the parser.
> Support regexp function change regexp operator for Hive library
