Looks to me like the tests were added just to satisfy coverage nits. This is a performance enhancement, not a bug. Junit is not a microbenchmark framework, so it makes no sense to require unit tests that fail then succeed to show performance improvement. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
