Ran the literal bare `mvn` (which is what `pom.xml`'s `<defaultGoal>` and the CI workflow use, rather than `mvn verify`), on a clean worktree of this head and one of `master`, Maven 3.9.16 / JDK 17: * this head: `BUILD FAILURE` at surefire - `Tests run: 7305, Failures: 6, Errors: 62, Skipped: 55` * `master` (`606e55d6b`): `BUILD FAILURE` at surefire - `Tests run: 7302, Failures: 6, Errors: 62, Skipped: 55` The failing test set is identical between the two - 55 `Class#method` entries, zero differences - so none of them come from this change. They are environmental on this machine: 49 are `Win32 1314` symlink-privilege failures (the session is not elevated and has no `SeCreateSymbolicLinkPrivilege`), 4 are charset failures that pass when the JVM is run with UTF-8, and 2 are DNS failures (`google.com` does not resolve here). `UnsynchronizedByteArrayInputStreamTest` runs 19 tests with 0 failures, and no log contains an `ArithmeticException`. Since bare `mvn` stops at surefire, none of the goals after `verify` run in that invocation - on `master` either. Repeating it with `-Dmaven.test.failure.ignore=true` so the whole goal list executes gives, on both revisions: RAT "No issues found" (631 approved, 0 unapproved), enforcer, `jacoco:check` "All coverage checks have been met" (362 classes), `japicmp:cmp` 2.23.0-SNAPSHOT against 2.22.0 compatible-only, checkstyle 0 violations, SpotBugs 0 bug instances, PMD clean, cyclonedx/spdx/moditect fine, and `animal-sniffer` clean when forced with its JDK-8 profile. The only goal that fails is `javadoc:javadoc`, identically on `master`, with "Unable to write 'options' temporary file for command execution: Input length = 1" - a GBK-locale issue that goes away with `-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8`. So the honest summary is: bare `mvn` fails here purely from environment failures that `master` reproduces exactly, and every other goal passes on both.
