[~garydgregory] New Info.
I was able to rip this file apart a bit more and it is apparently not not an
empty space it is an U+FEFF character
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byte_order_mark
I think the actual issue here is that a file that starts with a line with just
U+FEFF should be skipped.
