Depends on what you consider to be the pattern: reuse is good (in general),
reuse of {{java.util.Random}} as an interface/base class is bad (in particular).

This is only one aspect of things.
Even so, still waiting for answers as to _why_ a dependency on RNG must be
avoided (at all cost)...
