In fact, I just decompressed the whole 6 gig archive in under a minute with
this buffer patch (fast SSD drive, but otherwise a regular laptop). I think it
should be the default for any kind of decoder to actually require a
BufferedInputStream (unless it has an internal buffer and reads from the input
in blocks).
