Potentially, if the the prefix for android namespace is  something other than 
"android:" on the targeted AndroidManifest.xml it would not be possible to 
carry over with a corrected prefix. It is an edge case but possible.

Also on the plugin specification <plugin> element it states "If the document 
contains XML from other namespaces, such as tags to be added to the 
AndroidManifest.xml file, those namespaces should also be included in the 
top-level element." I think it is bad practice if one of core plugins is 
actually not following the spec.
