Yes, you're right, the problem was in whitelist plugin.
But, such things should be alerted or warned in the console log. Maybe 
something like 'WARN: to manage external requests you required to install 
whitelist plugin' when some of the request happens. Now it just 404 (from 
cache) which is absolutely not clear what's going on.
Also, I think, `<access origin="*" />` should work without plugin and the more 
difficult parsing should happen inside plugin.
