Just that it spits out debs instead of rpms. The contents are identical... b) Pavel has (almost, only for build fixes) patches. Yes, he merges new GSIs sometimes but that 1. doesn't affect de and 2. he is the one of the people coordinating the whole stuff... c) Pavels build environment is although he is using configure simiar to suns one. same compiler etc. d) People from the community already test these builds. I don't think we should discourage people; those debs are just what are the rpms just that they are not alien'ized which can have interesting effects anyway[1] and changes the package version. People using Debian (or Ubuntu, whatever) should not be discouraged from using packages natively built for their system.. CC'ing Pavel...
