Hello there,

perhaps someone can help. We are installing OpenOffice on server- and client
machines via a tivolisystem, this installes OOo using a pearlscript that starts
the „normal“ installation routine of OOo.
Now we have the problem that sometimes, some clients do not get the .exe- files
like swriter.exe or scalc.exe etc. The Icons are grey and without function. When
I copy these exe- files from another client, I can start OOo correctly. This
phenomenon occurs during updates (2.41 to 3.01 or 3.11) and even by complete new
installations without an elder OOo- Installation present. At some locations we
have aprox. 20 clients with the correct installation and 5 without the exe´s.
After the installation we do have to reboot the machines, the users are than in
special usergroups, that will be activated by installing OOo on the servers (the
routine create's the group and the clientinstallation transfers this
informations automatically to the user). It does not matter if the user is a
normal user or a adminuser. There is no regularity visible. The logfiles gives
an OK back without error.

Parameter to install:
CALL /D:%ANWTEMPDIR%\IMG /AL:%LOGFILE%2 /P:1800 msiexec %VAR_InstParam%
/norestart /i openofficeorg31.msi INSTALLLOCATION=%VAR_PgmVz%
COMPANYNAME="%VAR_BNKNAME%" ADDLOCAL=ALL

Where should I search for the cause of the error in the installation? Is it a
known problem? How can I fix it? Do I need some extra parameters in the
installationscript to verify the correct exe- installation?

Best regards,

R. Fischer
